Online exhibition marks 50 years of iconic Welsh stamps

A stamp dedicated to Tenby Lifeboat features in an online exhibition commemorating 50 years of Royal Mail Welsh stamps.
Issued in 2008, the Tenby stamp was one of six to honour ‘Rescue at Sea’; the series marked the centenary of the worldwide adoption of SOS (• • • – – – • • •), the International Morse code distress signal.
A gallery containing every special stamp issued by Royal Mail since July 1965 has gone online. Joyce Watson AM attended an exhibition at the Senedd on Wednesday to promote the website. She said:
“For fifty years Royal Mail has honoured iconic Welsh people, places and events. These simple everyday items tell an interesting story of Welsh life – it is well worth a visit.”
