Joyce questions government over Dairy Crest closure

Joyce Watson AM has questioned the Welsh Government about the planned closure of Dairy Crest in Whitland.
In an urgent letter to business minister Edwina Hart the Mid and West Labour AM asks for details of discussions between the government, the dairy company and Carmarthenshire council. Mrs Watson also calls on the minister to clarify what support will be made available to the 31 at risk workers.
Here is the letter:
Edwina Hart AM
Minister for Economy, Science and Transport
Welsh Government
10 December 2013
Dear Edwina
I have received several concerns following the news of the closure of the Dairy Crest dairy in Whitland, Carmarthenshire with the loss of 31 jobs. These jobs are of critical importance to a rural area where alternative employment opportunities do not readily exist.
Would you highlight any discussions that your officials have had with Dairy Crest and/or Carmarthenshire County Council? Furthermore, will you outline any support that your department may be able to provide to those who will lose their jobs at the dairy?
I look forward to your response.
Yours sincerely,
Joyce Watson AM/AC
