Joyce demands assurances on school meal standards

A local Senedd Member has urged the Welsh Government to ensure high school meal standards across Wales, following disturbing reports from Ysgol Dyffryn Taf in Whitland.

School meal campaigner Joyce Watson MS said:

“I was shocked to see the images of tiny portions of undercooked food. If pupils hadn’t shared those images this might have continued.

“We know how important good nutrition is, both for child development and to help them concentrate on their studies.

“Unfortunately, for some pupils this might be the main meal of the day.

“I am glad that minister Lesley Griffiths has confirmed that standards are being monitored across Wales, and that officials are working with Carmarthenshire Council to ensure this does not happen again.”
