[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Pupils from Montgomery Church in Wales Primary School visited the National Assembly for Wales last week (28 September), as part of a ‘Welsh culture’ trip.
As well as taking a behind-the-scenes tour of the iconic Senedd building, the children from Years 4, 5 and 6 met Assembly Members Joyce Watson and Russell George and watched the afternoon’s debates from the public gallery.
Mrs Watson, Labour Mid and West Wales AM, said:
“I was delighted to talk with the children about the work we do as Assembly Members – holding the government to account and legislating on things that affect them, like education. They were very engaged and asked really good questions about issues like smoking in public and road safety.
“I recently learned that 29 September, the day after their visit, marked the 749th anniversary of the signing of The Treaty of Montgomery, when Llywelyn ap Gruffudd was acknowledged as Prince of Wales by King Henry III – a sort of medieval devolution settlement. So it was particularly fitting that Montgomery school should visit us this week.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
