Joyce visits revamped Penparcau Community Centre, ahead of July opening

Joyce Watson AM has paid a visit to the under-construction Penparcau Community Centre, ahead of its official opening this summer.
Dylan Lewis, director of Penparcau Community Forum, showed the Labour Mid and West Wales member around the site. The project to redevelop the old community centre and boxing club has been supported by £490,000 of Welsh Government money and £150,000 from the People’s Health Trust.
The new-look facility, designed by architect David Thomas of Aberystwyth’s Catalina Architecture, will include a community heritage café; outdoor sitting area; training and education room; training kitchen; community office; heritage exhibition area; changing rooms; and public toilets, built around the original boxing club and fitness room.
Mrs Watson has supported the project since inception. She said:
“I’m very grateful to Dylan for taking time out to show me the latest developments. Penparcau Community Forum, with the support of Welsh Government, has worked hard to make this project a reality. The building looks fantastic – it promises to be a wonderful community asset when it opens in July.”
An official opening ceremony will take place on Thursday 13 July 2017.
